How the Vampyre Community can make a difference in 2026

The Vampyre community is like an ocean, with viscous waves driven by various storms. The storm can feel relentless, like you are suffocating as the sea swallows you whole.
In this drowning feeling, you may hear silence around you, but only your own thoughts will be loud and clear. When you are in this position in the ocean, where your head dips way below the surface, there may be a shark or two that prey on this vulnerability. You feel breathless, shaky, and even exhausted. It’s so easy to get into this mindset of “Why am I the only one being preyed on by these blood thirsty sharks,” but then you realize you aren’t truly alone in this vast sea. The shark hunts others; others become hurt. Now, do you say the blood thirsty sharks are evil? Or do you think they are attacking anything that they see moving because that is what they think they need to do to survive? Are they hunting to hunt, or are they hunting to survive and maintain their position on the food chain?
This is what you need to consider when the VC has become stormy. Do you choose to keep drowning? Let the sharks feast on you? Or do you swim back up to the surface and keep fighting for survival?
2025
This year, for me, has been the toughest of my life. I keep a lot of my personal behind-the-scenes stuff confidential. This whole year, I was trapped. When it was my time to escape, I had to make the toughest decision to come back to my home, which I was trapped in, to look around and see nothing but memories, and somehow call it home. To make it my home. This was a significant factor in my decline in activity and things not being released on time. Within this time, especially recently. Despite coming back, I had to remember. The home isn’t what hurt me; it was what was within. The home was never the issue it what was there in the past. It does not mean it’s all bad I just need to do what I need to do to make it home again, the house is not be blamed it was the actions that took place. I want you all to read that again. Now apply that to the Vampyre community. The Vampyre Community didn’t hurt me; it was what was within. If you have past heartaches from the VC you have to remember not everyone and everything within it is there to hurt you especially intentionally. It’s time to work on altering your perspective and learn how to make it home again.
Reflecting on the VC is something I decided to do for this blog because of Obscurus’s last blog. The VC this entire year has been wild. There was a break in between, but as soon as the holidays came back, the VC went rabid. October-February is the peak season when members of the VC seem to forget every lesson taught and turn on each other, repeating history. It’s genuinely disgusting and disheartening to see this. Rumors spread, people don't talk things out privately, and grudges are held. This is the storm we have mentioned earlier, and the sharks do benefit from those who fall into the sea. I must say, many members of the VC have disappointed me this year, and their actions and the resulting destruction have added unnecessary stress to the entire Vampyre community. We are better than this. I saw it this year. Before the storm became too severe, spaces came together for a heart-to-heart. Witnessing this, and seeing the hope that started falling apart this year, acted upon it.
What is hope?
Hope is the desire for something to happen. The Vampyre Community needs to understand this. The universe does not magically give hope; your actions make hope a reality.
Stop waiting for someone else to solve the problems for you.
To the VC, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
This is where I tell the Vampyre Community to stand up. Stop waiting for someone to come along to do something about it. It is time for the VC to roll up their sleeves and get to work. Stop drowning in the sea and swim! You must work your way to the surface so you can breathe again. It may be exhausting to reach the top, but keep going; you will get there.
“There are no updated surveys, so nothing is accurate nowadays.”
Then make your own surveys, learn how to make one, and work with others who know how. SUPPORT the surveys that come out.
“There are no resources for this.”
Please make your own resources, dig deeper, see if someone has already made a resource on a topic, share those resources, and bring them to light for those who struggle to find them. Once again, SUPPORT resource creators. Creating resources can be a bit intimidating, especially as each one grows larger. But know you are doing a wonderful thing for the community. Stop worrying about whether a resource on something exists; you can make your own version and put your own experiences and ideals into it. Brainstorm how to make it different. Evolve it. You can never have too many resources on the same topic. As someone who went from collecting resources and preserving them to curating my own, I find joy in making them. If you have been thinking about making your own resources, I encourage you to do so. I would even be more than happy to help you with them.
“There are minimal active VC spaces out there now.”
Make your own spaces! Any space can have various purposes. There is no such thing as too many spaces. If you don’t want to take on such a responsibility, then do your part by supporting other spaces, applying for that staff position, sharing that community link, and supporting their mission! There are very few spaces because there is a lack of support and motivation. It is so hard to accomplish something within this community when the VC goes silent and acts like they don’t see your efforts.
“There are so many bad VC leaders and influencers.”
Stop playing into their drama, don’t give them the attention they want. Your attention is what they feed on. It is a game to them. Support good leaders and influencers, so younger VC members do not fall into the rabbit hole of bad VC influencers and leaders. Just because their voices are loud doesn't mean you can’t speak up and create more respectful dialogue.
The Importance of Community Support
Notice that every example above included multiple solutions, either as a creator or a supporter. Creators and Supporters cannot be done exclusively; they both have to take part to make things work. We need those who are brave and dedicated enough to put their time and energy into creating stuff for the VC, but just as important, we need those who support with their time and energy. One cannot be done without the other.
By sitting here and not doing one or the other, or even both. You are part of the problem. Then you mix in the bloodthirsty sharks of the community, who prey on those who do try. No matter why, there is a lack of evolution in the VC.
How will you make a difference for the VC in 2026?
Now that we have identified the recurring issues within the VC, we have reflected on what needs to be done to preserve the VC. What will you do?
How will you better support the VC? Making resources? Supporting Projects? I suggest making a goal. Not some New Year's revolution. Make actual goals where you can take actionable steps to do your part in improving the VC.
Reflect, organize, and support.
