Sanguinarian vs Med Sangs
While the two consume blood, they consume it for similar and different reasons. TRC has defined Med sang and sang as:
Med Sang: "First, it would be important to define what a Sanguivore is. Sanguivores are people who perceive a physical need to consume blood (often fresh and human) to stave off a common set of symptoms and to obtain optimal health. Sanguivores often have to consume considerable amounts of blood weekly ranging from seven shot glasses worth to an entire pint. Some of the most frequently reported symptoms include temperature/light sensitivity, digestive problems ranging from nausea, diarrhea, and constipation, chronic lethargy, and migraines. Some of the more frequently reported benefits from maintaining optimal health through consuming blood include a stronger immune system, increased physical strength, and slowed aging." -The Red Cellar FAQ Section.
Med Sang has become more of a way to distinguish sanguinarians and sanguivores. "Med" is derived from the word Medical, this was done to emphasize that their approach is a medical approach.
Sanguinarian: Those who consume blood to access energy or meet other needs.
Cravings and Symptoms
Cravings and Symptoms are so broad and can range from anything from minor to more extreme cases. What is important to note is that if you are displaying symptoms it is advised to go seek a medical professional to ensure your symptoms are not actually the result of an illness or condition. Though, this does not mean you cannot be a vampyre and have medical conditions.
Another note to consider, is that while there is a lot less representation of more minor symptoms compared to the extreme ones. That does not mean you should feel less validated within your own identity. Do not lie or claim you have symptoms that are not your own to fit in. Embrace and accept your true nature. Do not follow the general consensus because you feel as if you wont fit in otherwise. By following the general consensus, you are feeding into this visciois cycle where representation of these minor symptoms and cravings are depleting, which in return causes more people to lie about their true nature.
