Introduction
The word ‘psi’ is a misnomer for all that encompasses the reality of Psi Vampyres. Many equate psi with magic, extrasensory perception, and psychokinesis. While magic and extrasensory perception are prevalent in Psi Vampyre spaces, they are not the only aspects of Psi Vampyrism. Psi’s have cravings and needs which have very real consequences on their physical and mental well being. While popular in books and many spaces, being a Vampyre is not only about the fashion, way of life, or spiritual tradition. It also has painful consequences such as physical and mental fatigue, brain fog, emotional dysregulation, unexplained aches and pains that only feeding seems to help.
The word ‘psi’ in the Vampyre Community stems from the shortening of Psychic Vampire to Psy Vampyre, and further changed to Psi in various online spaces. All are correct and depend on preference over any real differences aside from personal belief and utility.
Caveat on the Esoteric Nature of Psi Feeding Methods
Although the symptoms of Vampyrism, being Sang or Psi, are similar they vary and no one Vampyre will experience them the same. What this article aims to explore are Dayside concepts and methods to make ones cravings less detrimental. The caveat, although the symptoms and cravings are quite tangible and even able to be tested, the feeding methods of Psi Vampyrism are esoteric in nature. You are feeding on invisible energy, no matter how you word it. Whether it is through the lens of Medical Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine (which is largely my perspective), Ayurveda, Somatic Body Work, or Polarity, the concept of the energy body is esoteric. There is no scientific or medical evidence to suggest otherwise.
For decades spiritual writers have tried to convince the world that science has proven the existence of magic and the energy body. The issue is they write largely from a misinformed perspective. The most popular concepts are the bio-field, quantum mechanics, and that we only 10% of our brains capacity. For clarity and flow, we will stick to the bio-field.
The Bio-Field and Exotification of Eastern Philosophy and Medicine
In metaphysical literature the bio-field is often equated with the Etheric Body, the first level of the spiritual bodies. The claim is since electricity emanates off the body then higher spiritual energies must then emanate off the Etheric Body. This is called the ‘aura.’ In reality, the brain sends electric and chemical signals called neurons through out the body. The brain is connected by a complicated network of nerves, primarily the central nervous system (CNS) that delegates how we “think, move, and feel.” Second is the peripheral nervous system (PNS) which sends signals to our organs and limbs. The peripheral nervous system is further broken down into the somatic nervous system which regulates all of our conscious and voluntary movements and the autonomic nervous system which regulates all of our unconscious and involuntary movements.
The line blurs between medicine and metaphysics with the introduction of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Electric currents can also be traced through the meridians (jing luo) and pressure points (shu xue), which acupuncture utilizes for healing. The meridians are invisible currents of energy (qi) that follow specific paths, particularly connected to the organs and endocrine system. In Qigong Theory there are three main pools of qi, called the dan ti’ens, or ‘elixir fields.’ The Chakras also align with the endocrine system as well as the internal organs. If you look at the spiritual meaning behind each Chakra you will notice they also align with the function of the nearest organs and glands.
The ancient Chinese doctors found specific movement patterns, sounds, herbs, seasons, and foods effect each organ and through time created the concept of Five Phases (Wuxing) which represents the cyclical change of qi moving through each organ. Each organ is related to an element, a season, a sound, a flavor, and an emotion. As time went on and Chinese philosophy, medicine, and martial arts gained popularity this age old system, along with Yoga, got watered down to fit the Western spiritual narrative. While it took a while for Qigong and Yoga to be taken seriously in the medical field, they caught on rather fast in the occult world. Aleister Crowley and HP Blavatsky both swore by the powers of Yoga. Crowley spent years in India studying in ashrams. He was deeply influenced by the Eight Limbs of Yoga which inspired his own magical teachings. According to legend, HP Blavatsky spent years in Tibet traveling through the steppes and met many great spiritual masters that imparted to her the secrets of their lineages.
Where it strayed into the modern phenomena was when they took out the medical healing aspects of Ayurveda that have similar concepts as Traditional Chinese Medicine, utilizing posture (asana), breath (pranayama), meridians (nadis) and pools of energy (chakras), and also utilized herbs, massage, and diet to help the individual. Aside from Crowley and Blavatsky who traveled to the Far East, Swami Vivekananda and Paramahansa Yogananda traveled from the Far East to teach the spiritual precepts of Yoga and Hinduism in the late 18th to early 19th centuries, respectively. This added to the allure of a new spiritual system that was different but not quite at odds with the Christian dominant West.
It was from these occult histories, a mix of fact and fancy, that created the false narrative of the modern understanding of ‘spiritual science.’ It is up to the Vampyre to decide what energy is to them, but it is intellectually dishonest to think that feeding on energy is anything less then esoteric, occult, or spiritual.
Neurodiversity and Queerness
Note: I am non-binary and neurodivergent, so I speak from both being an ally and my own understanding with gender identity and neurodiversity
This is not fact nor am I claiming it is the majority, but I have noticed a correlation between neurodiversity, queerness, and Vampyrism. Being queer is not a condition or illness, but like Vampyrism and neurodiversity, feelings of otherness, variance in gender expression, and seeing the world through a unique lens are common. They effect us on a psychological and physical level. Trans folks with gender dysphoria know better then anybody what it feels like to be trapped in a body that is not kind to their self-image and identity. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and gender-affirming surgery (GAS) are often necessary for their mental and physical well-being. Not a fair comparison, but this is similar to the need a Vampyre may feel to feed, wear fangs, or get body modifications to feel more in line with their identity.
Then we have mental illness and neurodiversity that effect the way we understand our reality-tunnels and how our executive function is not the same as a neurotypical brain. People with ADHD and Autism share many traits, such as special interests that can get in the way of perceived proper social skills. There is also burnout from masking, or playing a farce of personality to be seen as normal. It can be exhausting seeking the approval from neurotypical folks when it is not just a difference in how they perceive reality but their ability to work in the confines of a world not built with them in mind. For example, the retail worker is expected to always give a smile and treat customers with respect and kindness even when said customers act quite the opposite. For neurotypical brains it may be annoying and frustrating but they can adapt as needed and return to their baseline rather quickly. For neurodivergent brains it takes a lot more out of them, where it can ruin their entire day dealing with a single rude customer. Finding their baseline again can take hours or days.
A Note on Structure and Elitism
Elitism
An assumption people have is that all Psi Vampyres think so highly of themselves over other Vampyres and people. This idea is solely based in the outlier of the community or in the Left-Hand Path Orders that, although influential, are not a part of the General Vampyre Community. Psi elitism is very real but again, it is within the Left-Hand Path oriented organizations mainly. The idea that Psi’s think Sangs are criminal are from the Temple of the Vampire and Order of the Vampyre specifically, the majority of Psi’s I know and interact with can care less about how you feed as long as it is safe and done with consent.
Structure and Hierarchy
Project V itself has a structure and a hierarchy, but it has nothing to do with how powerful the mods think they are. It is based purely on the duties of the mod. I am a Psi Mentor because I am a Psi and I like to teach. I am not better then any other Psi, but I have decades of experience in several Dayside and Nightside practices that all inform how I view and practice my Vampyrism. There needs to be structure to have order and order cannot be maintained without a group of people overseeing and enforcing guidelines and rules.
The Importance of Esoteric Concepts for Psi Vampyres
This started as a blog to dissuade the concepts of esoteric belief and practice but upon further contemplation and returning to my knowledge base, I couldn’t write a blog seeking to disprove or ignore the esoteric elements of this condition. We discussed how the Psi Vampyre feeds on energy, but the energy methods go much deeper then feeding. You have to have at least a basic feel for subtle energy of yourself and others to know what you are working with and if you are actually feeding or fantasizing. You need to know the difference between an energy leakage, blockage, wound, and how to deal with them. You need to know what types of energy are good for you and bad for you and the best way for you to get the sustenance you need. Some Vampyres feed on happiness, some on negativity. Some feed when they share intimacy and some feed when they enter deep states of meditation or dream. These feeding methods have been recorded since the early 90’s in books and online spaces.
There may be psychological components to Psi Vampyrism as well, such as mental illness and neurodiversity we spoke about earlier, but what makes one vampyric is understanding that burnout or a depressive episode are not the same as vampyric hunger. Feelings of gender dysphoria are not the same as feeling different because you have odd cravings no one else seems to experience. Those are neurological and psychological issues that need to be dealt with in their respective fields. And there in lies a big issue, for both Sang and Psi alike, we are using a taboo and strange method to feel better. Feeding on blood and energy are both seen as problematic in the larger world. Even in Occult spaces, Psi Vampyrism is still looked down upon. We are a unique community and need to support each other rather then bicker about who is right and who is wrong.
To ignore the metaphysical basis of Psi Feeding itself is to ignore the fact we are largely feeding a lack in our energy bodies. If it was not for an energy deficiency, why then would we need to feed on energy? It would not make sense for us to feed on energy through energetic means if the issue was not energetic in nature. If we are fatigued there are countless options to feel less fatigued. Quality sleep, de-stressing, balanced diet, exercise, mindfulness, etc. To jump into “I’m a Vampyre because I am fatigued” is to ignore real life medical and psychological issues you can get treatment for in much easier, and dare I say, socially acceptable ways.
Coping Methods and Strategies
HALT is an acronym for “are you”:
Hungry – have you eaten, and what is the nutritional content of your food? Certain foods will have certain effects on your body and emotions. Be mindful of what too much sugar or caffeine or too little water or fresh produce does to your brain and body,
Angry – have you had a bad day, did somebody say or do something to upset you? Not just angry, but keep in mind how different emotions effect your brain and body. Sadness makes me tired and feel heavy, for example.
Lonely – are you getting enough socialization and stimulating conversations? Do you have a friend, group, or community you can rely on when you are down?
Tired – have you gotten enough sleep, enough rest after work or exercise? How are you rejuvenating after work, exercise, or emotionally taxing conversations?
Journaling
A format I often use is very simple – the Date, Day, and what I am feeling. I describe my emotions, significant events of the day. Other things I may include are if I had enough water, food, or sleep, the type of interactions I had with people, and if there are patterns to how certain people and situations make me feel and what I can do about. My journals are both a space for venting and brainstorming solutions.
Rejuvenation
The purpose of rejuvenation is de-stressing which is to bring the body and brain back into balance.
There are countless ways to de-stress from taking a bath, drawing, writing, listening to music, playing music, light exercise, to healthy snacking with your favorite television show.
Ambient Feeding
The most esoteric of feeding methods for Psi Vampyres. You can go to any public place to gather needed energy. It helps in a pinch and you will most likely need to feed ambiently more often then if you had a donor but no consent is required since you are essentially feeding on ‘leftovers’ of lifeforce.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is simple in design but profound in practice. Taking moments out of your day to be completely present can help you focus and recharge. A popular method is called the Body Scan which orients you in your body and the present moment. The first few times will take a bit longer as you get used to it, but as you perform it on a regular basis you can do it anywhere in a very short time.
Body Scan
Start at the top of your head and became aware of your body, breathing naturally
Slowly descend from the middle of the top of your head, down your forehead, face, neck, chest, torso and arms, groin, thighs, shins, ankles and feet and into the Earth.
Feel your tension melt as you descend.
Return to the top of your head and do the same down the back.
Slowly descend from the middle of the top of your head, down the nape of your neck, upper back, arms, lower back, buttocks, hamstrings, calves, ankles, and heels into the Earth.
Feel your tension melt as you descend.
Now do the same through the center of your body.
Be aware of any tension and breathe through it.
The Body Scan is good to find tension and release it, as well as to feel your energy body and where there may be blocks, leaks, or wounds.
Conclusion
Being a Psi Vampyre is not synonymous with being a psychic, witch, magician, or mystic, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t esoteric underpinnings of the condition and the methods in which we feed. Not all Psi Vampyres are spiritual nor do they equate energy work with a spiritual path. Energy is a concept of life, consciousness, and the unseen connection of all things. Concepts of it have existed throughout history in almost every culture and while science alludes to it, it is not scientific fact, at least not in the way spiritual authors and individuals falsely claim. There are many ways to interpret energy and many ways to work with it, but we should not confuse subjective want over objective fact. I cannot confirm nor deny the existence of this subtle force I can only go on what I have experienced and studied over the years.
I suggest when you come across a magical or spiritual person speak how science has proven the existence of magic or energy to look into the actual science behind it. It gets tricky when former scientists come out and write spiritual books, like Rupert Sheldrake who came up with the concept of Morphic Resonance from his educational back round in biology or the well known parapsychologist Dr. Dean Radin who has an educational back round in electrical engineering and psychology. This is not to say they are wrong or that you should throw it out the window, but to be mindful that the theories these authors put forward are not always backed by experiments in controlled environments or otherwise tested by other researchers.

I heavily agree that not all psychic vampyres view their workings as a spiritual path.
