The summer of 1995 saw the birth of an organization known as the International Society of Vampires. This organization, often referred to as the ISV, grew out of the voluminous correspondence that took place between the contributors and subscribers of a variety of Gothic and horror-themed small press publications that were in print from the late 1980s onward. One of the first formal organizations devoted to real vampires that began to appear in the early 1990s and a pre- cursor to the modern vampire community, the ISV and its official newsletter, The Midnight Sun, offers valuable and interesting insights into the history and development of that community. Now, collected for the first time in one complete volume are all of the back issues of the International Society of VampiresÕ official newletter, including ads, inserts, and a special Òinner circleÓ publication released in 1997.
